Fragrance and allergen checking, liquid soap dilution, and the rest of the engine
2026-09-21
- Fragrance and allergen calculator: your load as a percentage of oils and of the finished product, checked against the certificate maximum for the right IFRA category, with a conservative combined check for blends. Paste a supplier allergen declaration and it works out what each allergen comes to on the label, against the EU thresholds, with an optional correction for weight lost in cure.
- Liquid soap dilution: how much water to add to a potassium soap paste for the concentration you want, given that the paste already holds water from the cook.
- Every additive is now reachable in the lye calculator, including vinegar and lactic acid. Previously the chemistry existed but the page offered only citric acid and a filtered list of liquids that happened to exclude both.
- Resize a recipe to a total oil weight, a total batch weight, or a number of bars — multiplying every weight by one factor and leaving the percentages untouched.
- Master batch: enter your stock solution strength and it says how much solution to weigh and how much water to add, and says plainly when a stock is too dilute for the recipe.
- Cavity moulds in the mould sizer.
- Fixed: with more than one fragrance, each load measured its share of the batch without counting the others, so every one reported high. Percentages of the finished product are now solved together.
v0.1 — the calculator and the open oil database
2026-09-20
- Lye calculator: NaOH, KOH or dual lye with purity and superfat; water as lye concentration, % of oils or ratio, all three shown; citric acid lye compensation; milk, cream, beer and aloe replacing water with their fat counted toward the effective superfat; fragrance as % of oils or of batch with an optional IFRA maximum; mold sizing from volume and batter density using the recipe's own proportions; soap qualities, fatty acids, iodine and INS; an explain drawer for every number; permalinks, copy-as-text and print.
- Open ingredient database with saponification value, iodine value and fatty-acid ranges transcribed from Codex, pharmacopoeia and journal sources, with the document named on every record.
- Formula pages with citations for every constant.
