Batch log
A recipe is a plan. A batch is a thing that happened, and editing the recipe afterwards must never rewrite it.
The batch log belongs to an account, because production records are not something to hang on an unguessable link.

The assistant can be wrong. It never gives lye amounts, and a bar that might be lye-heavy should not be used until you have ruled that out.
This batch took nothing from your stock. Batches logged from the lye calculator take their ingredients from it.

Worked out oldest first: a batch is taken to have used the oldest delivery still on the shelf. If you opened a newer container first, pick its lot and the rest of your stock follows. Ingredients that are not in your stock are not listed.
First in, first out, as the accounting standard for inventories describes it (IAS 2, paragraph 27)
Weigh the same bars every few days from the day you cut them, a few bars or the whole batch, the same each time. The curve shows how much water they have lost and when the loss slows to a crawl.

Batch record
What a batch record needs under cosmetics good manufacturing practice: every ingredient with its supplier lot and weight, how it was made, what was checked, the batch code, and whether the batch was accepted. Print it before you make the batch and fill it in as you go, or afterwards from what you logged.
