A bar made of 100 % Avocado Butter

The soap qualities are derived from the fatty-acid profile, which is below. They are shown here only for records the calculator can use.

Where these numbers come from

Madar Corporation Ltd (brand biOrigins), Fordingbridge, UK: the blender's own documents — Avocado Blended Butter: certificate of analysis (batch 4519614), INCI statement and manufacturing flow, safety data sheet (16-page document set) · read 2026-09-26

Page 1: certificate of analysis (ranges and lot results; checked on the rendered page, since the text layer misaligns the result column). Page 5: 'INCI statement ... composition breakdown': Persea Gratissima Oil 80, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil 19, Tocopherol 1 (% inclusion). Page 6: manufacturing flow, refined avocado oil blended with hydrogenated vegetable oil and tocopherol at high temperature, cooled, tested, packed. Page 1 prints tocopherol's CAS number as 52-02-9 and page 5 as 59-02-9; neither enters the record.

A BLEND, NOT A FAT OF ITS OWN. Avocado butter is avocado oil made solid with a hydrogenated fat, and what goes into it, and in what share, varies by supplier; avocado oil itself is the avocado-oil record. The figures here are one producer's: Madar Corporation's (brand biOrigins) avocado blended butter, whose INCI statement gives the make-up as Persea Gratissima Oil 80 %, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil 19 % and Tocopherol 1 %, made by blending refined avocado oil with the hydrogenated vegetable oil and tocopherol at high temperature and cooling. Its certificate of analysis (batch 4519614, best before September 2025) specifies melting point 50.0-60.0 C, acid value < 2.0, iodine value 50.0-80.0 and saponification value 175.0-200.0 mg KOH/g, and reports for that lot 60.0 C, 0.16, 61.0 and 191.0. The ranges are the specification, and each typical is that lot's result. The saponification window is the same as the NF window for hydrogenated vegetable oil (175-200, the hydrogenated-vegetable-oil record) and sits inside the band of avocado oil (170-202 in this dataset), so a blend of the two needs about the same lye whatever the share, provided it is made only of C16/C18 oils; a butter made with a lauric fat such as coconut oil would not be. The hydrogenated oil's source is not named, so no fatty-acid profile can be given and the soap-quality numbers are not computed. The melting point is that of the hard fraction; the butter is soft at room temperature, so it is filed under 'other' with the shortenings rather than among the butters whose melting points the balm tool averages. A certificate of analysis for the lot you buy beats this record. CosIng has no INCI name for the blend, which is labelled by its parts, so inci is blank.
