Calculate a 100 % Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil bar

The saponification value here is derived, not published. No primary document we could use gives one for Sea Buckthorn Seed Oil, so it is calculated from this record's own fatty-acid composition: chain lengths fix the molar mass, which fixes how much hydroxide a gram of fat consumes. That gives 193.3 mg KOH/g, ±3 %.

That is stoichiometry on a measured composition rather than a guess, and it is about as well determined as a published figure: checked against the 35 Codex oils where both fields come from the same standard, the method's median error is 0.90 % and its 90th percentile 2.74 %, with no meaningful bias. The formula page shows the working. If you have a certificate of analysis for your lot, enter its measured value in the calculator and this estimate is set aside.

Figure 1A and accompanying text: fatty-acid composition of mature seed oil across four cultivars.

SEED oil (not the palmitoleic-rich pulp oil; see sea-buckthorn-pulp-oil). Fatty acids are from the open-access PLoS ONE 2012 study of Canadian-grown Hippophae rhamnoides ssp. mongolica (cultivars RC-4, E6590, Harvest Moon, FR-14), Figure 1A, mature seed, % w/w across cultivars: linoleic 33-36, alpha-linolenic 30-36, 18:1 (oleic delta-9 plus vaccenic delta-11 combined) 17-20, palmitic about 7, palmitoleic under 4, stearic under 4. The 'oleic' entry therefore includes cis-vaccenic acid, and the palmitic value is an approximate figure read from the paper's text/figure, not a tabulated mean. Saponification value, iodine value and unsaponifiable matter are NULL: no open-access primary document with measured values for the SEED oil could be opened in this session (the Pure and Applied Biology paper is behind a bot-check, the OCL/ScienceDirect/Wiley-JAOCS papers returned HTTP 403 or are paywalled, and conference-proceedings and reseller specification sheets are outside the allowed source list). Do not reuse the pulp-oil SAP/IV for the seed oil: the seed oil is a linoleic/alpha-linolenic oil and would be expected to have a much higher iodine value than the pulp oil. Melting point not given (liquid oil). INCI not verified on CosIng in this session, left null.
