THE FIXED (triglyceride) OIL of carrot seed, not carrot seed essential oil and not 'carrot oil' macerated from the root. PETROSELINIC ACID (cis-6-octadecenoic, C18:1 n-12) IS 65.5-72.5 % OF THE FATTY ACIDS AND HAS NO KEY IN THIS SCHEMA; it is kept out of the oleic key because it is a different acid (double bond at carbon 6, not 9). As a result the keyed acids cover only about a third of the oil, the validator reports a low total, and the record is reference-only: no saponification value is published in any document found, and the build cannot derive one from a profile this incomplete. For orientation only: petroselinic acid has the molar mass of oleic acid, so the oil should need about as much lye as other C18 oils, but no figure is asserted here. Ranges span these three complete datasets; acids reported only in #15606 are stored as max; C17:0, C17:1 and cis-vaccenic (18:1 delta-11) have no key. Other PlantFAdb carrot entries (1960, 1986, 1987, 1990, 1996) give a single C18:1 figure of 62-89 % (some labelled as oleic acid) without separating petroselinic from oleic acid, so they are not used. Contradicting analysis, not merged: Rigano et al. 2025 (J. Food Sci. 90:e17661, Table 1) analysed a cold-pressed carrot seed oil and assigned the reverse - C18:1 n-12 9.83 %, C18:1 n-9 69.69 %, with 16:0 4.70, 18:0 1.38, 18:1 n-7 2.23, 18:2 8.94, 18:3 0.24, 20:0 0.33, 20:1 0.43, 22:0 0.83, 22:1 0.73, 24:0 0.32 %; either that product differs from the seed oils analysed earlier or the two C18:1 peaks were assigned the other way round - this record cannot tell which. INCI: CosIng's 'Daucus Carota Sativa Seed Oil' is described only as 'the oil obtained from the seed of the carrot', lists FRAGRANCE among its functions and carries CAS 8015-88-1, the number of carrot seed essential oil; since it cannot be confirmed as the fixed oil, inci is null.
