它是什麼，在皂中有何表現
胡椒薄荷精油是以蒸氣蒸餾胡椒薄荷（Mentha × piperita）的地上部位製成（ISO 856）。2017年，美國和印度是歐洲最大的供應國（CBI）；在美國，它主要種植於愛達荷州、華盛頓州和奧勒岡州（USDA）。它的主要成分是薄荷醇，氣味清涼、銳利而甘甜。
它在冷製法中表現良好（Faiola），也是最受歡迎的皂用香氣之一。它的氣味很強：Fisher 用的量比大多數香氣少，Grosso 也提醒它的刺涼感在皂化後依然存在，所以要適量使用。Cable 的配方用量為總油重的0.7至3.1%；Faiola 和 Corley Barto 使用二次蒸餾的等級，用量為0.8至2.1%。本頁的 IFRA 數值是上限。
胡椒薄荷精油常摻入較便宜的野薄荷，也就是 Mentha arvensis（Miloua 等人）。Cable 建議不要用在幼童身上。
